Contact Lens Exams

If you are tired of relying on eyeglasses to see clearly, consider getting contacts. Contact lenses provide a completely natural appearance. Also, you won't need to worry about your vision being blocked by the frame of the eyeglasses or dirty lenses. If you are an athlete or active person, contacts are convenient than wearing glasses with an athletic strap as they won't get in the way while playing a sport. Before you can get your contact lenses, you will need to schedule an appointment with Monroe Family Eyecare for your contact lens exam.

Tests We Will Perform

Several essential tests will be performed to assess your eye and vision health. A few tests our eye doctors will conduct include:

  • Pupil Test
  • Eye Movement Exam
  • Eye Pressure Exam
  • Vision Test
  • Depth Perception
  • Peripheral Vision

In addition to the above tests, we will also evaluate your tear film, conduct a corneal topography, and use a slit lamp to view the anatomy of your eye.

Taking Measurements

Contact lenses are not one-size-fits-all. Since everyone's eyes are different, our optometrists will need to take measurements to determine the best contact lens size for your eyes.

Discussing Lens Options

There are plenty of contact lenses to choose from, such as soft lenses, hard-to-fit lenses, and multifocal lenses. If you suffer from an eye condition, such as astigmatism or keratoconus, our eye doctors will fit you with a unique lens to treat the disease and allow you to see well. If your eyes are healthy enough to wear traditional soft lenses, our optometrists will help you find the right lens for your lifestyle and personal preference.

Sample Pair of Lenses and Follow-up Appointments

Before you can wear your contacts, you will need to know how to insert them, how to remove them, and how to care for them properly, and our optician can help you with all of that. You will be given a pair of trial lenses to wear for a week or two. This will provide you with plenty of time to get used to the lenses and make sure that they are comfortable. The trial pair of contacts will also give you a chance to make sure that the prescription is correct. If everything is fine when you come back for your follow-up appointment, you can order your supply of lenses. If not, we will make the necessary adjustments to help you feel comfortable wearing them.
